Terms, Policies, & Procedures

Below are the club terms, policies, and procedures currently in place at the club.

Club Terms:

Training Sessions:

  • All training sessions take place at the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill.

  • National League: Tuesday 8pm-10pm 

  • Ladies Local League: Tuesday 8pm-10pm

  • Men's Local League: Monday 8pm-10pm

  • Juniors* and Beginners: Sunday afternoon/evening, times vary - please get in touch for more information (*Juniors will only need to attend one training if selected for the Local League team).

  • Between May and September, outdoor training will be arranged at John's Park, in Burgess Hill. 

Match Information

  • Local League (Ladies, Men's, & Juniors)

    • ​Matches are typically held on week-nights, with some on weekends depending on venue/ home team host.

    • There are approximately 10 to 15 matches during the season, which runs from October to May.

    • Home games are played on Wednesday evenings at the Triangle, with away games played across Sussex. For a view of where away games may be played, please visit our 2024/2025 Fixtures page.

  • National League (Women's)

    • Matches are played at the weekend and grouped as 'double headers' in which three (3) teams play during a single match day, with each team playing two (2) matches on the day.

    • There are approximately 10 match days per year.

    • Home games are played at the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill, with away games played across South East England (Kent, Sussex, London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Surrey). For a view of where away games may be played, please visit our 2024/2025 Fixtures page.

  • Transport to matches

    • Transportation is covered by the team members. Car sharing is usually arranged for each match day. 

Rules of Membership

  • Members must attend at least 75% of training sessions (detailed above for each team).

  • Members must attend at least 60% of all matches to remain on the squad.

  • Members must pay the monthly membership fees (details below).

  • Members playing on the National League team must pay Volleyball England registration fees (details below).

  • Members must purchase necessary kit for matches. Optional training kit can also be purchased.

Membership Fees

  • Monthly membership:

    • Adult membership is £300/year spread this across 12 monthly payments of £25. 

    • Junior membership is £240/year spread this across 12 monthly payments of £20.

    • If you are playing in both Local League an National League only one membership payment is required.

    • Membership fees are to be set up as a 12 month rolling standing order.

    • If you would prefer to pay one (1) annual fee, this must be paid at the beginning of the season (September). Please contact the Team Secretary to arrange this. 

  • Volleyball England Registration Fees (only applicable for National League players)​

    • National League players must be registered with Volleyball England to play in the league.

    • A one off, seasonal payment is made via the Volleyball England site, Volleyzone (£40.50 for adults / £26.50 for Juniors). You can set up an account and complete your registration here.

    • Please note, unless you have just moved to the area and have played for an international volleyball federation or team in the last 2 years, select 'Membership type - NVL - Federation of Original - England'. Selecting the 'Not England' will initiate an International Transfer process, which may cause delays to your registration and ability to play in matches, and is typically unnecessary. If you have any questions about your registration please contact the Team Secretary for help.

  • Club Bank Details

Kit

  • Match tops MUST be purchased in order to play in both Local League and National League Matches. 

    • For players joining at the beginning of the season, a bulk order may be made by the Club depending on need. For those joining after the match season begins, you may need to purchase your top individually. Match tops cost £25+shipping and will only need to be purchased once. 

  • Other optional kit, including training tops, knee pads*, women's shorts, hoodies and rucksacks are available for purchase on the club website found here: https://kmd-clubshops.co.uk/product-category/sussex-dolphins/. Optional extras range from £15 to £32+shipping per item. At the beginning of each season, if there is enough interest in various items, a bulk order may be put in by the Club. Please get in touch for more information.
    * Please note, knee pads are highly recommended

  • National League Kit

    • As mentioned above, National League players MUST purchase the appropriate match top. ​

    • Volleyball England also has strict rules regarding additional uniform, including shorts, socks and compression sleeves. As such, you may need to purchase additional items as appropriate for National League matches. Please contact the Team Secretary for more information regarding this.

Communication

  • The team communicates predominantly via Spond for any updates related to the club, training sessions and match planning.

    • Before each training session and match, an invitation will be put out on Spond to ask who will attend the session/match. The Coach will use this poll to plan his training session or squad for the match.​

  • WhatsApp and WhatsApp Communities may also be used to communicate with teams.
